TS licensing server question

I recently implemented a new DC and also made that DC a Terminal Licensing
Server. My old DC, which was just recently demoted, was also a Terminal License
Server, and is still active. My new server has been receiving requests and
getting licenses, but the majority of them are still on the original license
server (the old DC). These licenses are all Builtin licenses that do not
expire because they are XP machines connecting to a 2000 Citrix box). My
question is, is that I have to take down the old DC and remove the TS License
role on it, so I'd like to deactivate it, etc. Will those PCs that have
a builtin license on the old licensing server automatically go find my new
server when it realizes that the current server they were listed under is
no longer available? Just want to make sure before I take it down - it's
getting reformatted and eveyrthing and used for something else.

Thanks!

Re: TS licensing server question

Just wanted to add that I do indeed have a few PCs that were listed on that
old server, getting new licenses on my new server, so I know that some are
working...if that's the case, all of them should work okay, right? I guess
I need just a tad bit reassurance...:)

Re: TS licensing server question

I had to take down a 2000 Term Srv. It was also my licensing server. I
installed a 2003 terminal Srv, made it a licensing server and the 2003 took
precedence over the 2000 server. I then removed the licensesing server from
the 2K machine.
Then I removed the trem form the server.
I shut down the machind for two weeks. All of the licenses were answered by
the new machine. YOU MUST remeber that ther are nolongerfree cals. You must
purchase ant cals that you may need. Even if they are XP machines.
I hope that this helps you.

Re: TS licensing server question

Yes, if one of them works, all will, because it's not the client
who needs to discover the new LS, it's the Terminal Server.
Clients *never* communicate directly with the LS, it's the TS which
requests a license from the LS on behalf of the client and then
forwards it to the client.

So if your TS can locate the new LS, all is well.
