Memory use at startup

Hi All,
I am using Win XP x64. When I startup my computer, the memory (I have
768M) drops down to about 300M and then below 150M, sometimes falling below
40M. But every once in a blue moon, the memory starts at above 500M and falls
to around 350M. Any ideas on how I can get it to do this all the time,
instead of infrequently?
I use Diskeeper 2008 (on all the time, but does not appear to affect memory
usuage), and AVG AV.

Copy a big file to a slow media like cd?
Put 20 or 30 shadow copies in place?

Seriously, I'd be willing to bet the variances you see are due to temporary
nonpaged pool use (both of the examples above will do that BTW).
