Windows Vista Power Point Viewer - .pps

Using Vista Home Premium 32-Bit. I have installed Microsoft 2007 Power
Point Viewer. When I select it in File Association to open .pps files and
then try to open a .pps file the association reverts back to the Microsoft
Office Power Point Point selection. I have uninstalled the Microsoft Office
Group to get away from the on screen nagging to purchase it so now I am
unable to select any Power Point program that works. The system always
reverts to an association that no longer exists. Does anyone know a way out
of this mess?

Right-click the file, choose "Open With", select the viewer and check the
box at the bottom that says "Always open etc etc".
Does that work?

I just installed Open Office and now I can view .pps files - Thanks

pps files don't run automatically natively in Open Office - there's an
add-in you can get to make that happen if you want.

I installed Open Office and looked at the .pps file association and it had
selected Open Office all by itself. I then clicked on an E-Mail that had a
PP presentation attached and it opened up.

Yes it will open - but a pps file is a PowerPoint Slideshow - ie it starts
the Slideshow automatically. Open Office won't do that. If you want it to,
then you need the add-in I posted.
