Jumper settings of any recent hard drive should be available at the hard
drive manufacturer's website.
You probably have 2 SATA ports on the motherboard. One being SATA0 and the
other SATA1. There should be a bios setting to enable SATA, and one
sequential setting to set as master or slave for SATA. You won't see it
take effect until you save the bios setting and reboot.
XP may or may not have a default driver for your SATA controller. Enable
the SATA controller first in the bios, then check device manager/hardware to
see it XP implemented the SATA controller. If so, continue by connecting
the SATA hard drive. If no SATA controller is available in XP, you need a
driver for it. Go the the XP hardware group for help regarding any further
help.
