Hi,
When I create a new RDP Terminal Server connection using the Terminal
Service Connection Wizard, the drop down box for Connection Type is greyed
out, and only Microsoft RDP 6.1 is available.
I have some Linux thin-clients that support RDP 5 - how can I configure
TS2008 to work with these??

Re: 2008 Terminal Server

Have you tried the connection?
I think they should be able to connect, but without a lot of the new
features.

Re: 2008 Terminal Server

Hi, yes have already tried.
The thin-client Status changes briefly to Connected, but then drops back to
Not Connected.
Have tried :
Set "Computer Configuration->Administrative templates->Windows
Components->Terminal Services->Security->Require use of specific security
layer for remote (RDP) connection" to "RDP".
&
on Computer Properties Remote tab have selected "allow connections from
computers running any version of Remote Desktop",
but creating a new session is still forced to RDP 6.1 !

Re: 2008 Terminal Server

Any ideas anyone? I could do with being able to use these Linux thin-clients,
otherwise I'll need to stick with W2k3 or replace them with RDP6.1 compatible
devices :(

I know there's an RDP 6 compatible RDP client for Linux, I've
used one in Ubuntu Linux. Maybe it was "rdesktop", I can't remember.
Anyway, you should upgrade your Linux client.

Re: 2008 Terminal Server

Hi HP support have said a new firmware version for their thin-clients is
'imminent', which will support RDP 6.
I'm really disappointed that I can't use TS2008 for RDP 5.1 sessions using
rdesktop at the moment (when the drop-down box is there, just always greyed
out)!

If someone knows how I can un-grey this connection properties box that would
be great...
