hi folks

we are experiencing SERIOUS network performance issues since yesterdays MS
Patches (941693, 945553, 948590 and 948581)

wireless connections to our DC have required us to bounce the DC 7 times
today.

ALL of our nonDC Win 2003 Server R2 boxes are running fine, only the DC is
experiencing this.

we have been experiencing some copper wire network issues but just about
every wireless developer in my company is ready to ring my neck.

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

I have lots of GPO errors in the event log and just about ready to call MS.

Rob

Are you on SP2? Is KB948496 already installed?

Re: Yesterdays MS Updates killing network connectivity

I work with Rob. We are on SP2 and KB948496 was installed 3/12/08. A sample
error message is as follows:

Event Type: Error

Event ID: 1058
Date: 4/9/2008
Time: 3:08:54 PM
User: MCCREADIEGROUP\scott
Computer: MCGSERV
Description:
Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO
CN={31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9},CN=Policies,CN=System,DC=McCreadieGroup,DC=local.
The file must be present at the location
<\\McCreadieGroup.local\sysvol\McCreadieGroup.local\Policies\{31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\gpt.ini>.
(Configuration information could not be read from the domain controller,
either because the machine is unavailable, or access has been denied. ).
Group Policy processing aborted.

Hm, that looks like something else then, perhaps permissions related.
How about the MMC roll-up update from
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940848 ?

This kind of sounds like your error though:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935918/

Re: Yesterdays MS Updates killing network connectivity

We'll research that angle some more. It doesn't make any sense because we
haven't change the GPO recently. The only thing new was the patches this
morning.

Did you already try uninstalling the patches?
