In general, much the same considerations apply as when copying an OS from
one physical HD to another. You need disk-imaging software of some kind to
perform the transfer.
The transferred system may not boot if the original hardware IDE driver is
markedly different from that 'presented' by the VM. This can often be avoided
by changing to "Standard PCI IDE Controller" before imaging. If not, you need
to do a Repair Install on your virtual machine. (Yes, you even get virtual
bluescreens, and virtual kernel dumps, can't say it's not realistic <g>)
