Roaming Profiles/Folder Redirection Problem

I am trying to setup roaming profiles for my users and using folder
redirection to help reduce long logon times. However, I have some
people with gigabytes of music and videos that I don't want roaming
with them. I want to be able to have their My Documents and Desktop
folders roam, but not My Music and My Videos. Can I exclude those
subfolders or do I have to exclude the Entire My Documents folder? I
am using Windows 2003 Server. I found that there is an option to
exclude folders from roaming profiles, however when i put "My Music"
or "My Documents\My Music" they still get synchronized like everything
else.

Hmmm. The word synchronization implies offline files - this isn't mandatory
or necessary just becaue you're using folder redirection. I don't - I
disable it via group policy.

If you don't mean that, provide a little more info - rsop.msc info & event
log errors, for starters.

If it's any help. the 'special folders' are determined by the User Shell
Folders key under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer.
These values (which are relative to the profile root) populate the Shell
Folders key when the user logs-on.

Unfortunately the entry for My Music doesn't seem to have an entirely
dependable result. Some progams seem to be hardcoded to use the default.

I've often wished there was an option to turn all of these media folders
off, as their presence lends legitimacy to users downloading pirate stuff, or
just generally clogging the system with trash. Hard to convince a guy he
shouldn't have music on a company computer when there's a folder of that name
under his nose.
