Hello,

We have a windows 2003 server that happens to be the common workstation in a
conference room. People are not using TS but logging in directly on that
server as themselves. Often someone will lock the server CTR ALT DEL and
then leave. The next person doesn't have rights to log them off and
doesn't know their password. I don't want to give them all admin rights.

Is there a way I can give them the ability to log eachother off of the
system?

Thanks

"this computer is in use and has been locked"
Only "or an administrator can unlock this computer"

I don't think there is a way to do this.

I'd agree by saying you don't want to give them admin rights - not domain
level anyway!

Your only option is to add these users to the local administrators group.
That will give them rights to logoff other users and control over the local
machine, but not the domain.

Thanks - I found an add on program I'll give a try called unlock
administrator - not sure if it will work but I thought I'd see if there was
already a way within Windows to do this without giving administrative
rights.

Thanks - I thought I'd see if there was a way to do this without giving
admin rights on any level.

I have been trying to do exactly the same thing. The only thing I have
found (after spending a lot of time looking) is a third party app called
Unlock Administrator. You can find it at
http://www.e-motional.com/ULAdmin.htm

We are using it here on both our WinXP workstations as well as our 2003
Server. It works very well.

Let me know what you think of it.

Good lord, why would you have Server installed on a computer in a
general workspace, being used as a common workstation in a conference
room? Poor idea in general!
