I use Win Vista SP1 to connect with remote desktop to Server 2008. I set the
connection to leave audio on the server to that I can configure steaming
media.
But when doing this I get No Audio Output Device installed.
I need the server to see the soundcard when on remote desktop.
RE: 2k8 Remote Desktop - No Audio Output Device installed
Hi! Lionel,
"Leave Audio at remote" has the same effect as "Do not Play" when you
connect to Server. In other words you cannot leave audio at the remote
machine when you conenct to a server. This is irrespective of whether you
have a sound card or not.
However you can redirect the audio to your local machine (Vista SP1 in your
case) by choosing "bring to this computer" in your client. For this to happen
successfully make sure Windows Audio Service is running on WS2008.
Could you provide additional details about your scenario? When you say you
want to configure streaming media what exactly are yo trying to do?
Thanks.

RE: 2k8 Remote Desktop - No Audio Output Device installed
One more thing. By default "Audio Playback redirection is disabled. You would
have to enable it in the TS Configuration Manager -> RDP-TcP Seetings ->
Client Settings. Make sure Audio Playback is unchecked. You will need this
for you to hear the audio on your client machine.
