I am thinking of adding a LG GGC-H20L to my x64 system. I already
have two Plextor DVD drives, but they are IDE and the LG is SATA.

Has anyone had experience with Blu-ray software in x64, and with this
LG drive in particular. The drive is only $180.00 at NewEgg.com with
free shipping.

Thank you!

Sounds OK, as long as you understand that it does not write to blu-ray discs
but only reads them.

Colin,

That's ok with me. The Blu-ray burners are too expensive for me, and
they don't write very fast anyway. I'd like to be able to say I saw a
movie in Blu-Ray. I have a SCSI tape for backup.

BTW, it turns out LSI didn't release a Vista 64 driver for my onboard
SCSI, so I will be sticking with x64 until the end. <g> Or at least
nobody on the Tyan forum or at Tyan technical support told me where I
could find a Vista 64-bit driver for the chip. I did find an x64
driver for it on LSI's website.

I think you and I built our x64 machines around the same time. My
270s are fairly lame by today's standard, but I'm not about to buy any
new memory, and I don't do anything which is that processor intensive
anyway.

I have upgraded the video card, so it should be fine for Blu-ray.

Thanks for answering!

Jim
