So we started having intermittent reports of workstations having
network connectivity issues. Basically, a client computer will come
up and not be able to talk to the network. It has no IP address, and
doing an ipconfig /renew causes a long wait followed by an error
saying there was no response. We started looking at it as a network
issue, as rebooting the machine would often cause the problem to
correct itself. This morning I decided to take a look at the domain
controller/DHCP server for that VLAN and noticed a couple of odd
errors:
Event ID: 1014
The JET Database call returned the following error : -1808.
Additional Debug Information: JetBackup.
Event ID: 1016
The DHCP service encountered the following error when backing up the
database:
An error occurred while accessing the DHCP database. Look at the
DHCP server event log for more information on this error.
The errors are then followed by a successful database clean up, etc.
We had a bout of odd IP problems yesterday, but the last time those
errors crop up was the day before that.
Can anyone shed some light on what these errors indicate and what
action I might need to take to correct them?
