Network printing slow

I have 3 computers all running XP Pro and networked together.
"A" is my main computer that I use all the time. No printers attached.
"B" has a printer. "C" has a printer.
I always access these shared printers from computer "A".
As of about a month ago, sending a print job to computer "B" takes forever.
Even Page Setup takes forever to open. Prior to whatever happened, it was
instant.

Print jobs sent to computer "C" go instantly.
The hangup is on computer "A" where SPOOLSV.EXE is tying up about 30% of
the system process.
If I actually go to computer "B" and print something directly, there is no
delay.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers on Computer B.
I've tried it with my firewall turned off. No difference.
I don't understand why the spoolserver is even running on computer "A" when
I am sending the print job to computer "B".
I can't think of anything I installed or changed at the time the slowdown
occurred.
Any ideas?
