Re: event log error after sp1

'Firmware' addresses the BIOS, the fact that you are asked to watch out for
updates does not ensure that the updates are released at this moment. Do
note, that AMD are releasing Beta versions for, at least some of their
BIOS's!

(Is it a fair bet that the disabled functions are ACPI ones?)

Re: event log error after sp1

Only - isn't the message really saying that 'parts' of your enabled ACPI has
been 'disabled'? (behind your back)

I grant you, this IS leaving room for interpretation, but ACPI support IS
known to be shakey in all BIOS's. I would download the latest SUSE (11.0
Beta1) it has an ACPI test on the boot-menu (DVD edition!) Note - this looks
'deep' and has to be interpreted too!

Re: event log error after sp1

Hmmm...
Latest bios (1008.004) was beta and dates back to Oct 2005.
You might want to check the ASUS forums for this board.

Re: event log error after sp1

Hi Carlos
I think the mobo is too old to update any further,I have the latest bios
installed already.
see specs below:

Program: eSupport.com BIOS Agent Version 3.62
BIOS Date: 09/08/05
BIOS Type: American Megatrends
BIOS ID: 63-0804-000002-00101111-090805-ATHLON64-A0058002
OEM Sign-On: BIOS Date: 09/08/05 12:57:54 V
Chipset: VIA 82C3188 rev 1
Superio: Winbond 697HF rev 2 found at port 2Eh
OS: WinVista SP1
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+ 2000 Mhz MAX: 2400 Mhz
BIOS ROM In Socket: Yes
BIOS ROM Size: 512K
Memory Installed: 3072 MB

I guess a "new" machine is the way to go.
