Hi All,
We have built a small TS farm of 5 servers running AdvServer 2003, with 50
CALS a peice, and a hardware load balancer in front to spread out the RDP
sessions among the 5 servers.
The server are 'serving' one application and IE to a max of 200 users,
usually about 100 on.
From three different geographic locations, we see horrible RDC disconnects
(the blue box).
I've read through Vera Noest's site and some of the links regarding Citrix
vs. just Terminal services, and I believe that since we are serving only one
application to so few users (comparitively) TS should be able to handle it?
Since everyone connects across Lan-to-Lan VPN's via the Internet, I realize
the wildcard that is the Internet could (and does) play heaviliy on how the
performance is, but RDP seems forgiving enough not to disconnect when
bandwidth is low, only if connectivity goes away (or packets are being
dropped excessively).
Can anyone comment on should it be possible to run this sort of environment
without seeing disconnects? Would Citrix on top help this? Performance is
great outside of the disconnects...
Any thoughts appreciated.
