Hello *
my Windows Server 2008 currently is in an unacceptable state:
I tried to access a DVD with Windows Explorer and from a command prompt but
the DVD seems to be broken because it did not work to read it.
Now, I cannot close both the command prompt window and the Explorer Window
any more.
I have tried the close button, Task Manager "kill process", and taskkill
from another command prompt but the windows just don't close.
On Windows Server 2003 similar cases could all be handled at least with
taskkill, so how can I do the same thing on Windows Server 2008.
All other services run fine. Note, this is a server machine so a hardware
reset is not the solution I am looking for.
