Our terminal servers when you log into them even when the fly out menus and
animation are disabled the taskbar buttons slide and the menu's fly out...
how in the world can i stop this? i got the menus once to stop but the
taskbar buttons still slide when apps open and close and no mater what i
change in performance settings it does not stop! any ideas? thanks

Hi Smokey,

Search in the registry for the value "MenuShowDelay" this is the delay in
milli seconds (default 400) and if you change this to 50 you don't see a
delay anymore when you klik on a menu in a Windows application...

Or do you mean something else?

Regards,

Piet van Dongen

What is the Windows version of Terminal Services are you running?
Are you referring to the desktop Start menu or you're using specific
applications that have fly-in/out menus?

Re: animated menus and sliding taskbar buttons in RDC annoying!

the menus are not the problem now i figured that one out, it's the task bar
that has its task items animated... or "sliding" as they call it in vista at
least... I am seeing this in Windows server 2003 enterprise's terminal
sessions.. when you open a window the taskbar item for it animates "slides"
in, then open 3 or so of the windows then close one in the middle... the
ones to the right now slide over to fill the closed ones space... no mater
what i change it does not turn off in TS... it turns off when you are using
the machine locally but not in TS.. in the system performance options under
system properties there is a setting "slide taskbar buttons" and it is
unchecked... yet they still slide in terminal services... but not when
logged in locally...
