Hello,
On another thread someone suggested the best way to transfer Office 2003 is
to install it from the cds. I am wondering what order to do things to get the
license transferred
1. Install on new
2. Use settings transfer wizard (which will also transfer the internet
connection (?))
3. Uninstall on old
4. Activate on new.
I would really like to know how the license is transferred. I cannot have
both old and new on the internet at the same time.

Re: transferring office

You should really ask this question over on one of the MS Office newsgroups.
This newsgroup is for 64-bit Windows questions, not Office questions.
Frankly, I haven't had to deal with using the Office transfer wizard in a
while, and don't remember what its limitations are.

If you're moving all your applications from one machine to another, use the
Files and Settings Transfer Wizard (or it's Vista equivalent, the Windows
Easy Transfer). You'll have to manually install your applications, but most
of the settings should transfer well.

RE: transferring office

I was expecting it to go into "installation and setup" as it is about setting
up Vista not actually about Office.

Re: transferring office

By whatever means and in whatever order, install Office on new machine and
remove it from old. Move your user files by whatever means. Activate Office
on new machine by using the option to telephone support.

PS
This is OT here since it concerns Office. However, the procedure also
applies to a wide range of apps and OSs license transfers, so, why split
hairs-or hares for that matter. Save the bunnies!. <sigh> I must get out
more...

All the best.

Re: transferring office

The order does not matter as long as you wind up still in compliance with
the license.
