Server 2008 thin client requirement - Advice

Hi,



Colleague of mine wants to remove laptops from his organisation and go
with thin clients. No probs there. He has only 1 physical server, and
would like to upgrade to windows 2008 at the same time. Is 2008
running DC, and terminal services a supported configuration ? Would
need to be app mode as there will be 5 clients....



I could stick a VM in Hyper-V I guess for the TS reqwuirement, just
want to get people's view on the best solution.

The point is that for security reason you should NEVER use a DC, doesn't
matter which OS, for Terminal services.

And the recommendation for Hyper-V is to run NO other role on the host
OS.

There is no reason not to run it under Hyper-V with two vms in child
partitions, one running as the DC and one for TS.

For 5 to 10 users, just purchase a separate high-end workstation and
install 2003/2008 on it as a terminal server.

I just build a SBS 2003 Prem solution on a small server and then added a
HP workstation that I installed 2003 Server std on as a terminal server,
they access everything from the co-location facility.

Oh, and we have clients that use "Any" laptop and then use RWW or Remote
Desktop with no software installed on the laptops, which means they can
purchase any cheap laptop for their remote users.
