Re: Internet Trouble?

What do you mean you can't log on? You mean that the page doesn't even load?
Or are you talking about some logon process you need to go through in order
to use part of the site?

No problems here (that's a FL Virtual School site), which points you to port
80: http://www.flvs.net:80/. If you had connection problems, you wouldn't
be able to post to this newsgroup, right? ;-)

Try again and post any error messages you see in the browser.

LOL! I personally always *hate* it when you hear "log on to
www.whatever.com and..." on tvs, radio, etc... We don't actually "log" onto
every web page we "visit" on the internet! :-)

Re: Internet Trouble?

OK, I took a look at that site. What happens when you try to log on? Just
doesn't work? Is there any error message? Have you contacted the site's
administrator?
That site looks like it might have a decent Help Desk:

Re: Internet Trouble?

We can't really blame Microsoft users for misnomers, can we? Kind of
inherent in the product.

Turns out the site does indeed have a logon that you go through to use much
of it's services. They have a decent looking support page and I think that's
where the lady needs to go.

I think you may be for some reason you blocked the Cookies for that site and
you need to remove the site from the blocked Zone see below..
1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Click on Privacy Tab then Sites Button and look for the site address and
remove it.
If the above doesn't help try to send the error message/line that appear on
the status bar of the page at the bottom.
Or a System Restore can take you to a time when things were working fine.
HTH.

Possibly.

My only point was sadly, when someone asks "I can't logon to... " the first
question we have to ask is "Define 'logon'. Do you mean open the site in
your browser or actually logon to an account stored on the site?". That's
why I dislike the phrase.

Sighs...

Jon.

Re: Internet Trouble?

I understood (and understand) your point. But considering the mountain of
poorly used words in the PC culture, often obsolete carry-overs from the
dinosaur age, with some prominent ones from MS itself, it doesn't come as a
surprise.
