actually I was looking more towards GP as the IT guy there doesn't
want a WSUS server for some reason. I have not seen an msi for sp3 yet
but figure there is one.

I haven't seen one either, but it's really too soon to expect much. That
being said, I'd be a little concerned about a network of any size
without a patch deployment system of some sort, and WSUS is both easy
and free.

If I remember right, there was a MSI package for SP2 on XP. At least you
could unpack the exe to an administrative installation point.

Apart from that, I'm not sure if I wanted my machines download a 300MB
chunk monday morning when people wait for their desktops to start. WSUS
is a somewhat more dynamic solution.
