hi

I am using windows server 2008

in gpedit.msc > computer configuration > administrative template >
windows component > terminal services > terminal server > remote
session environment

I enabled "start a program on connection" to run a program, "cmd"
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=sczvnm&s=3
then I run gpupdate.exe to apply it

then I use a 5.2 client (windows03) to connect to the server, the
desktop appears
and there is no cmd
doesnt it supposed to be only a cmd running ?

thanks

On Win2008, you need to use RemoteApp Manager to add cmd.exe to the list of
approved applications.

I dont want to use remoteapp
I just want to lauch a application after a rdp user logon, so dont
display user desktop
do you mean that I still need to add a terminal service server role
and configure RemoteApp ?

what I weird is that I just configure what exactly I have done in
win03("start a program on connection") on win08, but the user desktop
is still shown after user logon

thanks

with these 2 settings before adding terminal services server role just
dont work
Allow remote start of unlisted programs Enabled
Start a program on connection Enabled

but after adding the role with same settings everything works
its ridiculous

things in remote desktop of win03 need to be added as server role in
win08 in order to work
what a waste of system resources

Yes, the RemoteApp program list is also used to control access to "Start a
program...".
