On my old 'puter the sort order for a directory listing such as A:/ ... w/be
as such:

t619
t6190
t6191 & so on

on the new 'puter or PC, I get:

t619
t6190
t695
t6950
t6191

......... with other numbers/file names in between

So, it sorts according to the first letter & the second letter (or in this
case number), but then it loses the order. I want (as I had before) all the
t619 series listed together & in alpha/numeric order.

Old system was Windows98 SE, this new system in XP ... not that I think it
should make a difference.

Ideas?

Hi - this is a group for MS Windows Server issues. I suggest you post in
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general for the most help.

I also suggest you try using a news client, such as Forte Agent,
Thunderbird, or even Outlook Express, rather than the pretty clunky web
interface to the newsgroups. It's a lot easier to do nearly everything that
way, including finding the correct groups. You can mark messages to be
watched, filter the views so you can see replies to your posts easily, and
search. The Microsoft public news server is msnews.microsoft.com and you can
subscribe to as many groups as you like; no authentication is required.
