I've got a user having problems with offline files. His user profile is setup
on one of our Windows 2003 SBS boxes, and his laptop is setup to use it
offline when he's away from the office. Two files don't seem to get carried
over correctly we he sync's at the end of the day, Outlook.NK2 and
rasphone.pbk. There will be no errors in the sync, and the offline files
folder will show these two files being present. Sure enough though, when he
gets home the shortcut to his vpn connection does nothing and Outlook has no
autocomplete. Outlook will then create a new autocomplete, which will inturn
over write the one stored on the server when he comes back to the office the
next day. Also, the rasphone.pbk just disappears and he vpn connection must
be recreated. Very frustrating. Any ideas guys and gals?

Re: Offline File Weirdness

Do you have Redirected Folders, or just Roaming Profiles?
For the nk2, it sounds as though the roaming profile may be a bit mixed up.
This can happen if the user is a user of more than one machine
simultaneously. You just need to select the copy of the profile that you
would like to preserve, and delete the others on any other machine he may
use.
For rasphone I would start from here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/284269
Hope that helps,
Anthony,

Re: Offline File Weirdness

I'm not real sure if I have redirected folders or roaming profiles. When I
created the user I just specified the home directory to be a mapped drive on
the server. This user doesn't use any other machine. Just this laptop at home
and at work. Something is happening when he goes offline. I'll check the kb
article with regards to rasphone.
