Windows update error

When I try to udate windows vista, I get a "cannot search for updates" error.
Ive tried a lot of the fixes that I have found online. Anyone got any ideas?
Please help!!! Im going nuts!@! Thanks for anything....

See if reinstalling the Windows Update Agent resolves the error.
Follow the steps laid out here:

If it does not, then please post the installed antivirus/security suite
software [including popup/cookie blockers/toolbars, or any anti-malware

Im using windows live onecare
Reinstalling the update agent didnt work.

Error code can be associated with "access denied" - perhaps Windows Live OneCare is
blocking accessing somehow?

I have this same problem with almost an identical log file. I am trying to
work with windows update support to get a solution and have been working with
them for almost two weeks. If you have solved your problem, please share the
solution. If I ever get a solution, I will try to post. I am new to this
and am learning.

This is my first Post in a forum so please bear with me.

I have had this same problem with WUA since April following two weeks with
no problems from having a new computer with 'Vista Home Premium' I also
cannot install many of the windows 'Live' Programs or Adobe acrobat and it
seems that these are all related to the same issue in the MS Software - It
started folowing an update around that time from MS. I am not a professional,
but can sort out if I know what to look for!
Like many other people with this error, I have tried all the recommended
fixes with no solution and unless someone can give a definitive answer to
what the real problem is, or MS give out the information, then we are all
going to be chasing our tails!

I have just pasted the section of the log that seems to indicate where the
problem may lie?

Hi Mow,

I tried your Windows Update Agent30 from your 'clippings' faithfully
following your directions, but got an error 'Windows Update Agent installer
encountered unrecoverable error' I went through all the same process's to no
avail! Having gone through a load of fix's that are on the various forums
without any luck, & communicating with Toshiba Tech help, I am at a loss as
to where I go from here?

I have attached part of the Log Files that relate to Toshiba's fix & that
relating to my last attempt to Update.
