Hi:

Everytime I try to open an attachment in Outlook I get a pop up window
asking me to open a program to get an executable file. I have Window
XP Professional and Office 2003. What upgrade should I get or do I
need one to open these files?

Any help would be appreciated.

Max

Re: Executable Files

Max,

This ng is specific to Win98. You'll get more positive results asking this
question in an XP and/or Outlook ng.

It is highly recommended to not open ANY attachments in IE/OE
since that is how most malware gets into your system.

It is even more recommended to never use the "program". Get
Opera and a real newsreader and email program.

All executable files you are offered or download by choice
should NEVER be "opened" but saved, scanned for viruses etc, and
*perhaps* then installed using appropriate precautions.

T********,
Why did you sign your post with -M.P.? What is a *-M.P.? It looks like a
minus something.

Comments, anyone? AFAIAC, if this goes on much longer, the state
mental health authorities may have to be alerted and Thorazine
administered IV.

BTW, Gary, glad you have a new friend :-)

Re: Executable Files

thanatoid,
I am sorry.
I guess I should not asked you the question. I was just asking what
the -M.V. stood for. You could have answered nicely instead of getting mean
spirited. I was not being nasty at all. I was just curious. Maybe I have
figured it out. Is it your signature?

Re: Executable Files

Thanatoid,
Mistake to be corrected. Initials should read *-M.P.* instead of *-M.V.*
Sorry about that.
