Terminal User CAL Type shows "Not Applicable"

Hello,
I installed Terminal server in Device mode at initial time,and for users
license are issued in Device CAL Temporarily .Now i change the licensing
from device mode to user mode and Install the user CAL license. but it show
issued type as " Not applicable".

I will assume that you're talking about 2003 server.
If server is configured and activated in per user mode you will not able to
track used TS CAL. This is by design, per user licensing is not integrated
fully in TS 2003. Per user mode is fully integrated in Windows 2008.
And you will need to track you CALs manually.

But in windows 2003 theTerminal server USER CAL issued type shows "not
applicable". What is the reason and how to solve this issue.Now terminal
licenses are issued through Device CAL.But we installed Terminal User CAL .

If your server is in per user mode this is normal.
This is because per user licesning is not implemented fully in win 2003.

The terminal server user cal is already installed in the server.How to
re-install the User CAl again. sent me the procedure to solve this issue.

You don't *have* an issue, jeeva!
In Windows 2003, your Per User licenses are listed as "Not
Applicable" (N/A) in the Licensing Manager. That's because Per User
licenses are unmanaged in Server 2003, as documented in KB article
822134, and won't be issued at all.
Your clients will be able to connect without a problem.

Fran,

I understand that 2003 does not manage the user CALS however when I go into
the terminal server manager and select the connections, if I then look under
information for these connections I am showing under client license:
nothing. Again I userstand that server 2003 does not manage these licesne
however how do I ensure that each "user" is licensed?

David, there is no native way to do this, since no license is ever
issued.
You have to keep track of the number of connecting users by hand to
ensure that you are within the EULA. One way to do that is to make
sure that you never have more members in the Remote Desktop Users
group than you have Per User TS CALs.
