I am switching 6 computers in an AD domain to a workgroup. I made a
big mistake and knocked down the DC before removing a Windows 2008
member server which is used to run SQL Server 2005.

When I attempt to change the Windows 2008 server from the domain to a
workgroup, it launches a model window titled Windows Security. This
window is asking for a username and password belonging to the domain
for permission to remove this Windows 2008 server from the domain.

Well, the domain no longer exists. Is there another way to remove the
server from the domain?

TIA

Use the local administrator account on the computer. You can reference the
account as being local in the dialog with .\<AccountName>
