| I have Adobe Reader 6.0.2 vers, the updates are 6.0.2 - 6.0.6.
| I noticed that program loads very slow when run from Programs shortcut,
and
| more fast when open PDF document.
| Which updates are superfluous and can be removed without further showing
| popup prompt to install updates?
|
It isn't the updates you need to uninstall, it is the plug-ins loaded [and
those aren't uninstalled, but are moved to limit inclusion in Reader
startup].
Answers on which can be disabled and how to accomplish this can be found in
various places [and even some on Adobe] but it would not be my place to
advise concerning your personal needs or use. Your individual needs or
intended use, are likely contrary to mine.
You can stop the *Reader* update issues by disabling the check in the
Reader.
Requests to download other updates [really plug-ins] should be left at
individual needs [they can also be disabled], though ALWAYS check WHERE the
plug-in comes from [preferably from a trusted site], AND for Spyware, virus
or other, BEFORE installing AND after. That includes a search on the Net for
any related discussions or warning for whatever you intend to install, or
disable.
You can also limit or deny access from the Reader to the Internet via your
firewall, which IS what I recommend, particularly as the 6.0 version is
apparently no longer being updated, so the Reader [not the browser helper]
has no present need to contact the Internet.
