Re: need MS-Mincho font for Firefox - please help

Can you provide a direct link to a page you were trying to print? That error
message indicates that you are printing directly to Adobe PDF Printer. That
turns the document into a PDF file. May I ask why you are doing that? Have
you tried sending the document to a real printer? Does it print OK then?

Since you've installed the Japanese IME, have you tried using it in any
other application where you can choose the font? Choose MS Mincho, type
something, then print it using a regular printer. That should prove whether
or not the font is installed properly. I suspect it's installed just fine. I
suspect it's your PDF printing application that's having problems. Try
printing the same document with the Adobe PDF printer. What happens?

Lastly, go to ANY OTHER website, like mine, http:/grystmill.com, and print
the page to the Adobe PDF printer. What happens?

Re: need MS-Mincho font for Firefox - please help

Re: need MS-Mincho font for Firefox - please help

I was trying to print my Wish List from the iHerb.com website.
I'm not exactly sure but the problem occurs when
logged in since I was just able to print when not logged in.
Originally, I thought that the problem was with my printer so
I swapped out the toner cartridge. After that, I was able to
print again ... until I tried to print the iHerb.com Wish List,
which requires login. I'm not sure but I suspect that
the problem might happen when printing the cart as well. To rule out that
the problem is with my HP printer, I tried printing to Adobe PDF Printer.
Besides, printing from the iHerb.com website is wrecking havoc with
my HP printer. I already threw out one toner cartridge thinking that
it's dead when it might still be good. Arrrrrrrgh

Choosing the MS Mincho font in MS-Word, entering "Testing ..." then
printing to HP LaserJet 5 caused the printer to
display "20 INSUFFICIENT MEMORY, PRESS GO KEY".
Pressing the "GO" button caused garbage to be printed.
But, printing to Adobe PDF Printer works fine.

http://grystmill.com prints fine to both the HP LaserJet 5 and Adobe PDF
Printer.

Re: need MS-Mincho font for Firefox - please help

Try doing this: Use your mouse to highlight your Wish List or your Cart,
just the actual information, not the whole page (do you really need any
pictures or Japanese advertising or whatever?), right-click and Copy (or
however FireFox lets you do that.) Then Paste it into a Notepad, WordPad or
Word document. I'd try all three. Not sure what you'll get, but it's worth
finding out. If you still get errors printing, change the font for the whole
document to Arial. Try again.

Re: need MS-Mincho font for Firefox - please help

I should mention that I am able to print the Wish List using IE.
The print problem occurs with Firefox (not IE).

Just can't stand that feeling of leaving Firefox improperly setup if
that is the case.

Re: need MS-Mincho font for Firefox - please help

Maybe FireFox is just not capable of doing what you want it to do. Maybe MS
Mincho is too complicated a file for FF to understand. Maybe that printer's
software is crap, or your entire system is too damned old to understand FF
*or* MS Mincho. Perhaps you're not capable of setting up anything properly,
I don't know. Maybe you need your meds, Dan.
