Paging errors

I have a user who is getting kicked out of different programs. When I check
the Event Viewer, I see only two entries that might be suspect. One is as
follows:

There were maybe 30 or 40 of these, but with 10 at a time basically at the
same time. There was also this one, not an error or warning, just an
Informational Note in System Events:

Event Source: Application Popup
Event Category: None
Event ID: 26
Date: 5/13/2008
Time: 3:04:34 PM
User: N/A
Computer: DAN_MCHUGH
Description:
Application popup: RAMManager.exe - Application Error : The instruction at
"0x7c910f2b" referenced memory at "0x01439380". The memory could not be
"read".

Click on OK to terminate the program

Strangely, there was nothing corroborating in the Application Event.

I did a hardware test on the memory, which came back successful. Any ideas
would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried running a memory diagnostic program? Microsoft has one here
that runs from a floppy or bootable CD

Re: Paging errors

Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk CleanUp to
Empty your Recycle Bin and Remove Temporary Internet Files. Then select
Start, Run, type chkdsk d: /f /r, and OK.

You need to be aware that running chkdsk can take hours

You might find HD Tune gives you a clearer picture of what is going on.
HD Tune only gives information and does not fix any problems.

Download and run it and see what it turns up.

Select the Info tabs and place the cursor on the drive under Drive
letter and then double click the two page icon ( copy to Clipboard )
and copy into a further message.

Select the Health tab and then double click the two page icon ( copy to
Clipboard ) and copy into a further message. Make sure you do a full
surface scan with HD Tune.

I did. It's a Dell Precision with built in hardware diagnostics. Came up
clean when I ran the memory tests.

Thanks for the response. It does sound like a bad disk. I think I'll probably
just hit up Dell since it's under warranty.
