I have a file server running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise and I want to
upgrade to Windows Server 2003 Enterprise to take advance of the File
Server Resource Manager option. This server in a cluster node, and I want to
confirm if it is possible to upgrade the server to R2 without installing from
scratch
and loose all the files, permissions, cluster settings I already have.
thanks

Re: upgrade to Windows Server 2003 Enterprise R2

To go to R2, you will need to run adprep (from the second disk of the R2
set) on the schema master for your existing domain. After adprep
successfully completes, you can add the R2 features to any Win 2k3 SP 1
server in that domain by running setup2 from the second CD of the R2 set. No
need to install from scratch.
