I just finished testing the restore of the new backup feature in Windows
Server 2008, it is so sweet!
I have been doing backups to an external USB drive for about 2 weeks.
Today I fished around and kept installing stuff until I hosed the
machine - installing another disk driver to my RAID array did the trick.
System would not even do a repair from DVD! Would not boot, nothing.
So I just clicked on Repair when I booted from DVD, inserted my diskette
for the disk drivers needed to access the RAID array, it presented full
restore as an option, I selected it, it restored both logical disks
(both RAID 1), rebooted, and voila! A perfect working system restored
to the state of last night's backup!
That is so sweet..
