remote desktop for installation of new programs

I have 2 questions:
1) Is it ok to use remote desktop for installing programs on the server?
I want to put the CD in the server during the day when I'm at the data
center, but run the installation during the maintenance window at night. Will
it cause problems if I run an installation program from a remote desktop
session instead of being at the console?
2) Is it necessary or advisable to use the /console switch with remote
desktop when I want to install a program on the server? I'm not sure if using
such a console session matters for installations.

Depends what the program is, I guess...and whether the server will require a
reboot, etc.

Use the console switch

That's THREE questions! :-)

To be on the safe side, use it - and make sure there are no other RD
sessions active when you log in & install.

Dear Lanwench,
I want to thank you for the answers. I've seen and used your posts before,
too. Quite helpful and well written.
More on this topic:
The program I want to install will require a reboot.
I have used remote desktop sessions before when I need to install the
Windows security updates and the reboot at the end seems fine. I wait 5 - 10
minutes and log in again to see how it went.
I suppose the big problem would be if there were a problem, I would not be
at the server itself to see what errors it was throwing.
Any other concerns in your opinion?
