Dear all,

First, please be paitient due to my inadequate knowledge in networks.

My company has a server (file server and print server with windows 2003
server) and also a proxy server for internet access (Linux). I have 8 users
logging on the server and also 3 workgroups (20 persons) which are not
logging into the server, but are using it for internet access.

I need to secure my network (I may consult an expert to do that, but I need
to know what I need first), so data will be secure and also in some cases
(users dealing with confidential information) the administrator not to be
able to see/read those confidential information.

From the little experience I have, I know that, using the ip address and the
hidden C (hard disk) of any connected PC I may gain access to any information
on that PC.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanking you in advance,

GeorgeCY

Re: Security nightmare

George,
The "Administrator" rights give full access. Anything else can be configured
to have less access. You have to start from there in your security design.
Although there are various ways to hide or audit access, in the end someone
must be at the top of the tree that controls those mechanisms too.
If security is a big concern then you probably do need to get someone to
design it for you, as you suggest,
Anthony
