Re: Shortcuts don't connect to the net
Open Internet Explorer.
Click the Tools menu> Internet Options.
Click the Programs tab.
Click the |Reset Web Settings| button.
Click OK.
If that doesn't help, double-click My Computer, click the View menu (or Tools menu)>
Folder Options.
Click the File Types tab.
In the Registered File Types list, select "Internet Shortcut", then click the |Edit|
button.
In the Actions box, select "Open", and click the |Edit| button.
In the box for "Application used to perform action", make sure it shows:
rundll32.exe shdocvw.dll,OpenURL %l
If not copy/paste that line above exactly with no leading or trailing blank spaces.
Make sure the "Use DDE" box is NOT checked.
Click OK, then click OK in the previous window.
Now in the Registered File Types list, select "URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol",
then click the |Edit| button.
In the Actions box, select "Open", and click the |Edit| button.
In the box for "Application used to perform action", make sure it shows:
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome %1
If not, copy/paste as described previously.
Put a check in the "Use DDE" box.
In the DDE Message box:
"%1",,-1,0,,,,
In the Application box:
IExplore
In the Topic box:
WWW_OpenURL
Click OK and Close all the way out.
You may have to log off or re-start.
Post back with what you find, and your results.
