I have a Dell PC with Windows Vista and with a Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1250 TV
tuner card that was factory installed.

Recently, two issues have occurred that I would think are related:
- On trying to watch live TV on Media Center, I get the following error -
"Tuner not Installed. Video cannot be displayed because no tuner has been
detected."
- I get the following pop up error message every 45 seconds or so that says
"Windows Media Center Receiver Service has stopped working." The details of
this error message follow:
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BEX
Application Name: ehRecvr.exe
Application Version: 6.0.6001.18000
Application Timestamp: 47919381
Fault Module Name: StackHash_2901
Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0
Fault Module Timestamp: 00000000
Exception Offset: 02ac7d20
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Data: 00000008
OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3

I spent about 2 hours with the Hauppauge help desk reinstalling all the
Hauppauge software, drivers, etc. I receive live TV over Hauppauge WinTV but
continue not to be able to get Live TV on Media Center (same error as above -
"Tuner not Installed."). The Hauppauge help desk says that they have handled
several requests like mine but cannot solve it as the solution must be within
Vista.

Do you have a solution to getting Media Center to play live TV?

It's possible that the problem and solution are at the hardware level, but
not necessarily the card hardware.

How old is the Dell PC, and is it still under warranty?

What does Dell support say?

Can you - have you tried - moving the card to another slot? Is the card
detected in another system?

On the other hand, if you Google the error message, you'll find pages like
this:

Center Receiver Service stopped working and was closed"
