Hi everybody,

when i set the TS User Home Directory via GPO (Win Server 2003), how can i make the GPO- folder redirections
(Startmenue, Desktop, User Data) to this directory? The TS User Home Directory will be created like
"\\server\share\USERNAME.DOMAIN". So i tried %homeshare%, %Homepath%, and "\\server\share\%username%.%userdomain%"
but it wont work. Is there another way?

The reason is (maybe theres a totally different way, i haven't thought of yet):

I've got a Win2003 Terminalserver environment with users from different domains on different locations.
The all got a normal (not TS) homedirectory set in their AD-user object. It gets automatically mapped to I:\.
I cant change that and i dont have any access to most of the user objects.

For various reasons these homedirectories must not be seen in the terminalserver session, and also i need
to use I:\ for the TS home directory (so using another path for the TS home and simply hiding I:\ is not an option)
and i do need to make folder redirections (User Data, Destop, Startmenue) to this path).

The problem is, i cant simply "net use /delete" the users homedir from I:\ and remap it to the TS homedir in the logon-script.
It wont let me, because its the home path.

So the only way i found to remap I:\ to another path is setting the TS-home directory via GPO. But then i've got the problem
i explained at the beginning: i cant make the folder redirections via GPO to this directory. At least i dont know how.

Any suggestions?

thanks and best regards, rob

Re: TS User Home Directory and Folder redirection

Robert,
What you could do is to set up different policies for the different domain
users. So, for example, one policy would set home directory and redirection
for one domain only. You could achieve something similar with the Advanced
redirection, where you can specify different redirection for different
groups, but separate policies might be clearer in your case,
Anthony.
