Hello

Recently a lot of problems occured at our customer. They have Windows Server
2003 SP2. Clients connects to server through terminal sevices(about 10 users)
from different locations. All the users have different printers. Everything
work fine for last two years. Now problem appears. If the client loggs of
from terminal server, the printer session for this user is still "opened".
Next time the same user log on to server, the server creates new session but
printing does not work anymore because the previous session is still opened.
So the same user can have more printer sessions for same printer. How can I
fix this problem?

Any warnings or errors in the EventLog?
Does this happen to all users (and all printer models) or only to
some? If so, what is the printer model, and which printer driver did
you use on the server?

Yes it happens to all users, printers. I thing this problem started after I
installed drivers for HP Laserjet P1006. The printer driver is for Windows
Server 2003 (from http://www.hp.com).

Re: Multiple session for same user/printer

OK, that explains the problem.
The HP LJ 1006 driver is *not* supported* on a TS, as documented
here:

HP Printers Supported in Citrix MetaFrame Presentation and Terminal
Server Environments
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?
objectID=c00213455

You should never installa 3rd party printer driver on a TS unless
it is explicitly supported on TS. Most 3rd party printer drivers
are not completely TS compatible and can cause all kinds of
problems.
What you should do now is to uninstall the driver completely from
the server, and then map the printer to a native driver (one that
comes with the Windows OS) using the information in this KB
article:

239088 - Windows 2000 or Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services
server logs events 1111, 1105, and 1106
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=239088

You can also define a Fallback Printer Driver:

option=com_content&task=view&id=56&Itemid=49

Re: Multiple session for same user/printer

Thank you for the answer. Now it works fine. I should know this before.
