logonserver in profile path

I have 2 Windows Server 2008 DCs. I have always had
%logonserver%\sysvol\profiles\<companyname>\<usersname> for profile path in
the Terminal Server tab of the user properties. One DC dies, users can
still logon with their profile. With my old Windows 2003 servers this has
worked well for years. BUT! With the Windows 2008 servers, it just doesn't
seem to like the %logonserver% variable. I have tried every variation I can
think of but it always comes up with Profile not loaded and logs on with the
temp profile. If I replace %logonserver% with either of my DC names
(\\<servername>), everything works great. Even tried setting up a
completely new share. Same thing.
Been up, down and around on this. I know the variable still exist.
Anyone know what I could possibly be missing here? I'm running low on the
ideas. :)

Thanks,
John

Re: logonserver in profile path

Can you please check if typing "set" in a command window shows the
"%logonserver%" variable and if it is pointing to the right location?

Re: logonserver in profile path

Yes it does show. I know it still exist. I use it in a script to create
one of my logs. That works just fine. It just doesn't seem to work in the
TS path for my user properties. I have over 1000 users on my 03 TS network
and works great. Has for years. :(
