Windows Vista Alt-Tab disappears too quick

When I press Alt-Tab I get a 1 second display of the program icons and
then it disappears, so I can't change programs. I see a lot of
discussion here about Vista style program switching but not about this
problem. Maybe I have some vista program switching feature turned off.
I turned off a lot of vista's visual tricks to try to speed it up. In
any case my alt-tab behaves as in XP. But in XP you could hit Alt-tab
and as long as you held alt you could see the list of icons for
various programs and tab to the one you want. In my case that little
pop-up window of icons only stays for a second and disappears. If I'm
real quick I can switch to the previous program, but generally I can't
even do that. My keyboard has no problem knowing when I'm holding alt,
as I can test this in a number of ways (e.g. typing characters while
holding alt behaves different than without alt). So why won't my pop-
up of program icons stay while I hold alt?

Hi Njem,

You can press Ctrl+Alt+Tab to have it stay until you click on or select
the one you want instead.

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't know if that would be a solution if
it did work, but it doesn't on the vista system, or on an XP system I
tried.
