I have decided to format and reinstall windows vista 64 bit this morning and
when I booted from DVD drive it said Selected boot device not available, the
DVD drive is a PATA drive, so I connected a SATA DVD drive and it booted
fine, continue with the install and all went well.
I plugged the PATA drive into another computer and tried booting from the
DVD and it booted fine, so I plugged it back into the problem system and now
it boots from the DVD but towards the end of the install I got a BSOD about
pciidex.sys
I then plugged in a PATA CDRW drive and installed XP instead and that
installation went fine, so I am at a lost to figure out my problem, thought
it may have been the PATA DVD drive.
