How to backup network printers

Hi All,

I'm trying to find a way to backup and restore the network printer
settings for a server I have to reinstall.

I found PrintMig from MS but it seems it backup\restore only the
settings for local printers and not for network ones.

Does anybody have an idea about that?

I've used it to backup and restore print servers with 20+ network printers
on it.
You may be getting confused by the fact that when you open it, it's focused
on the local computer, NOT local printers.

Sorry, I think I forgot a pass: the server is not the printer server,
it is connected to remote printer queues as a normal "client".

When I open printmig, it shows me Printer (0) and even if I try backup
\restore (deleting some printers connected) it doesn't work.

Sorry but I don't understand your message: I don't need to recover the
print server but the "client" server on wich the printer are
connected..

Now I'm totally lost. From your first post:

I took this to mean that you have to reinstall a print server and you wanted
to backup the printers.

Then this post:

Printers are "connected" to print servers. Print server Clients connect to
the Print server to use the printers.
I have no Idea what a "client server" is in context to printing.

The context is:

Print Server: Server-A
MyServer: Server-B

On Server-B a domain user has a lot of printers connected from Server-
A (right click on the printer queue from Server-B, connect... That's
why I told you "connected").

I need, when the server will be reinstalled, to recover all the
printers this user has..

Maybe I found the solution (sorry if I was not able to explain clearly
my problem):

Using Printmig I backup all the drivers and exporting HKEY_CURRENT_USER
\Printers\Connections I backup all the connections.

Do you think this could solve my problem?

This is on server B. Can you detail the steps you take to get to "right
click on printer queue"?

You are connecting to serverA to display information that is on serverA.

These are the shared printers on serverA NOT on serverB.

You are connecting to serverA to use the printers that serverA shares.

If you were to rebuild the server and ran the same commands the same thing
would happen because the printers are not on the server you are rebuilding.
Try running the same command on your computer and you will get the same
window with the printers. That is because those printers are shared on
serverA and anything you do to *any* *other* machine will not change that.
The Printers are *installed* on serverA. The Printers are shared on serverA.
You connect to serverA to use the printers on serverA. They have nothing to
do with serverB.

Kind of like going to yahoo.com, then you want to rebuild your machine, you
don't have to backup yahoo.com to be able to get to it after the rebuild
because yahoo.com has nothing to do with your machine.
