Hi,

I wanted to find out ... ideally in a microsoft windows 2003 network
consisting of ISA Server 2004, Exchange 2003, domain controller, file server
and sql server 2000 - what should one VSS?

At the moment we are only using VSS on the file servers.

Are their any other servers that one should VSS as per best practicses?

Thanks

Re: Volume shadow service

Hi Meinolf,

I went through the links.

My question .... let's see I have a shared folder on windows 2003 which has
the roaming profiles.

Would one also VSS that drive?

thanks for your help.

Re: Volume shadow service

Hello Vishal,

VSS is not looking if it is shared or not or what data is in it. It will
create the copy. And do not forget VSS is not a full backup solution, you
still need to have a backup strategy.

Hi Meinolf

That server has drive C:\Profiles

which contains all the raoming profiles.

Should one use VSS on this drive /partition.
