I have a Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server with 20 per-user terminal
server client licenses. When someone creates a terminal server session they
are getting issued a "Temporary" license, now one of the 20 purchased
licenses. We are getting to the point where their temp licenses are going to
expire. How do I resolve this so they get issued a per-user CAL? Thanks.

Re: TS Temporary Licenses

You must configure your Terminal Server to use the Per User
licensing mode. This is done in terminal Services Configuration -
Server settings.

Note that after you make this change, your Per User licenses in the
TS Licensing Manager will still be listed as "N/A", and the
"Issued" count will not change.
This is because Per user licenses on a 2003 server are unmanaged
and never actually issued.
But the LS will stopp issueing temporary licenses to new clients,
and your existing clients will no longer receive a warning that
their temporary license is about to expire.
