Hi

I have a strange problem and do not really know where to post it, but I
figured this is as good a place to start as any,
someone would have had my problem or be able to point me in the right
direction.

I have Vista Ultimate SP1, SP1 was installed many weeks ago with no
problems, I have a Realtek HD soundcard.

I have not been having any problems with sound, yesterday I was playing
MP3's both on the web and from my hard drive, I was also playing games with
sound and had no problems.

This morning I started up my PC and I have no sound, no Windows startup
sounds, MP3's both online and on my hard drive have no sound and CD's I
tried have no sound.

I have tried in both iTunes and WMP, the players show the file is playing
but no sound comes out, games have no sound.

When I use the Realtek setup the sound is fine with good balance and audio
quality.

Any ideas on what is happening, it's weird!!

cheers

Daniel

Re: Strange sound problem

Something may have muted the sound. Have you checked the volume mixer by
right clicking on the speaker icon in the notification area?

Colin
