Does Microsoft plan any upgrade to the SysInternals ERD Commander tool? I
did not see ERD Commander in the SysInternals Suite utility package that
Microsoft is distributing.

Hello Will,

Doesn't look so if you see this complete list of downloads:
http://live.sysinternals.com/

What a mistake that is! ERD Commander was the only salvation against
having to deal with Microsoft's absolutely hideous recovery console.

Not really. The Bart PE boot CD has been around for several years.
It is an extremely versatile and powerful tool when dealing with a
machine that will not boot for some reason. There are similar CDs
based on Bart's work, e.g. the one from here: http://www.UBCD4win.com

I'm sure there are other tools, but ERD Commander had nice wizards for
building boot CDs, and more importantly now Microsoft owns it and it had a
chance to become an official Microsoft sanctioned boot environment for
repairing systems. As the OS manufacturer, they could have done a LOT with
the ERD Commander tool.
