This server runs web application java. Are you sure I need to reinstall
every single app?

Hey joey,

installation mode only copies any create/write to YOUR HKCU/Software while
you setup an application, to the so called shadow key. For any new login
after the installation, the winlogon process will compare the current users
Software keys timestamp against the ones in the shadow key and copies keys
if needed.

This features helps only old apps, where authors didn't understand where
system- and user-configuration stuff should go into the registry.

You only need to reinstall, if the software depends on valid entries in each
users HKCU hive. Like the app crashes, because there is no path to the
database found in the registry. But most software will create there a
default-skelton on the fly and the user have to setup things to their needs,
as usual.

Just give any app a try /wo reinstalling and if you encounter problems,
reinstall in install mode.
