Future RDP Protocol Versions for sound

Could somebody help me understand whether a future rdp version is likely to
support audio in. Could it be possible and is it likely to be in an immenent
release?
In orde to run VOIP applications on thin clients means having to run citrix
as far as I am aware.

Server 2003 and the RDP that comes with XP and Vista support Drives, Sound,
Serial Ports, and of course Video. If I remember correctly, the server itself
must have the appropriate sound drivers installed to be able to pass it to
the client, but you can test that. as far as how VOIP would work through this
process it would require some testing on your part. I'm not sure you would
get the QOS you are looking for. I have used Media Player through RDP to play
sonds etc. but they frequently "skip" and it's not the network speed.
