Hi.

We have a Windows 2003 Terminal Server running with two licence packs: a
Windows 2000 built-in per device pack and a Windows 2003 retail per user
pack. Our TS Clients connect from Mac OS X running the Microsoft RDP Client.
All licences are taken from the Windows 2000 built-in per device pack.

We found out that the Windows 2000 built-in is not supposed to be installed
and we rather use the Windows 2003 retail licences. However, we didn't find a
way to remove this licences.

Is there a way to remove a group of Terminal Server licences?

Thanks

Re: Remove Licence Pack

Unfortunately, I do not think there is an easy way to remove the license
pack. The only way I am aware of is to deactive and reactivate your license
server.

RE: Remove Licence Pack

Hi Francois,
I have a similar issue as you and had found a paper on TehcNet telling how
to solve it but did not book mark it.
I came across your post while I was looking for that white paper.
It tells how to delete the terminal server license DB and then replace it
with the original form the CD.
If you find it shoot me a link.
Thanks.

RE: Remove Licence Pack

Here's the article which explains how to start with a fresh
licensing database:

273566 - How to rebuild Windows 2000 and 2003 Terminal Services
Licensing database
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=273566

But this won't help Francois, since the Windows 2000 built-in
licenses are built-in (hence the name :-), s a fresh database will
again contain these licenses. Shouldn't be any problem, though,
since they will only be used when connecting to a W2K TS, not to a
2003 TS.

RE: Remove Licence Pack

KB 201371 applies to Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal
Server Edition. For Windows 2003, you need KB 273566.
